Elaphe bimaculata
Elaphe bimaculata have been in the hobby for a number of years. The first recorded captive breeding was by Klaus Dieter Schultz in 1985. It was quite a popular captive in the 90's, but not often kept and bred in the UK today. Wild caught specimens are imported from time to time and keepers have been successful in breeding from these, so the gene pool is quite diverse. My animals are F1 from Wild Caught blotched specimens imported into Europe.
Twin Spot Ratsnakes occur in three forms, Striped, Blotched and Blotched/Striped, with blotched being the most popular because of the brighter colouration. Some blotched specimens have been compared the European Leopard Snake, Zamenis situla in terms of beauty.
